Ensuite renovations in Melbourne

An ensuite is the first room you use in the morning and the last at night. We renovate ensuites that feel like part of the bedroom they open onto: calm, well lit, easy to keep clean, and laid out so two people can use them without getting in each other's way.

More than 200 projects completed over more than a decade.

Designed around the bedroom, not just the room

Because an ensuite opens straight off a bedroom, the things that barely matter in a main bathroom matter a lot here. How the doorway frames the room when you look in from the bed. Whether the exhaust fan is quiet enough to run at night. Lighting that is bright enough to shave by and soft enough for a 2am visit.

Ensuites are also usually long and narrow, which makes the order of shower, vanity and toilet the decision everything else follows. We work through it with you at the start so the finished room makes the most of the space it has.

What's included

What we look at in every ensuite

  • Shower placement and size, including walk-in and frameless options
  • Single or double vanity, and storage that keeps the bench clear
  • Positioning the toilet out of the line of sight from the bedroom
  • Door options such as a cavity slider where a swing door gets in the way
  • Ventilation that clears steam quickly without being loud
  • Layered lighting: task light at the mirror, softer light for night
  • Tiles and finishes that tie into the bedroom rather than fight it
  • Full strip-out, waterproofing, tiling and fit-off
Double timber vanity with twin basins, arched mirrors, brushed brass tapware and a frameless shower screen

Two people, one room

Built for the way you actually use it

The best ensuites are planned around a routine. Who gets ready first, whether you need two basins or one basin and more bench, where towels and everyday products live, and how much of the room the shower glass can take before it starts to feel like a corridor.

We ask those questions at the consultation, then design a room that answers them, with finishes chosen to look as good in ten years as they do on handover day.

FAQ

Ensuite renovation questions

How is an ensuite renovation different from a main bathroom?

An ensuite opens straight off a bedroom, so ventilation, noise, lighting and how the doorway frames the room matter more. Ensuites are often narrower, which makes the layout of the shower, vanity and toilet the key design decision, along with storage that keeps benches clear.

Should I choose a freestanding bath or a larger walk-in shower?

It comes down to how you use the room and how much floor space you have. A freestanding bath is a strong centrepiece and suits a main bathroom with room around it. In a tighter room, or where nobody really uses the bath, a generous walk-in shower usually adds more day-to-day value. In some layouts there is room for both.

What affects the cost of a bathroom renovation?

The biggest factors are the size of the room, whether the layout changes (moving a toilet, shower or vanity means moving plumbing), how much of the room is tiled and with what, the fixtures and tapware you choose, any custom joinery or stone, and what is found behind the old tiles once demolition starts. That is why we quote after seeing the room rather than over the phone.

How long does a bathroom renovation take?

It depends on the size of the room, whether the layout changes, and lead times on items such as custom vanities, stone tops and shower screens. Waterproofing and tiling also need set curing times that cannot be rushed. You'll have a schedule before work starts, and our aim on every job is the same: on time, on budget and a seamless result.
